    HTS.FAQ

    Questions, answered

Most clients aren't sure at the start, and that's fine, because we don't begin by building. We begin by listening. Before a line of code is written we sit down and work through how your business actually runs, where the friction is, and what's genuinely worth solving. Sometimes that means a smaller build than you expected. Sometimes it means telling you the software isn't your problem at all. We've spent years inside the business software industry watching the wrong solutions get sold to people who were never asked the right questions. We start with the questions.

Every build is priced to the job, so there's no menu. Whatever the size, we agree one fixed price before any work starts, and it doesn't move. Payment runs in three parts: 40% to start, 40% once testing is signed off and 20% when the off ramp is complete. You always know the full cost before we lift a tool.

No. That's the whole point of a fixed price. The price is agreed before we start, so if a job runs longer than we planned, that's our problem to absorb, not a bigger invoice for you. A day rate pays a firm to be slow. A fixed price pays them to be right.

Yes, and often that's the right call once you see the build taking shape. A change to scope means a change to the plan, so any new work is quoted before it begins, with an honest read on how it moves the timeline and the cost. Nothing changes until both of us have signed it off in writing. You stay in control of the price because you approve every change to it. What you won't get is a surprise: no work you didn't agree to, and no invoice you didn't see coming.

You own it outright. It's built on accounts in your name from the start, and at the off ramp everything goes into your name and our access comes out, in writing. No licence, no per-seat charge, no asking our permission to change it later. It's yours the way your premises and your van are yours.

We don't vanish at handover. For a month after launch we stay with you and fix anything that doesn't work as agreed. After that, help is at an agreed day rate, and we give you a time estimate before any work starts. What we won't do is put you on a monthly contract you don't need to guarantee we pick up the phone.

Depends on scope. A focused tool can be a week or two. A larger system runs over a few months in agreed phases. You'll get a timeline with your quote and see progress the whole way, because the same hands that plan it ship it.

Sometimes that app is the right answer, and we'll tell you so plainly. But fifty pounds a month is three thousand pounds over five years, per tool, and most businesses are running three or four of them. That's rented software built for everyone except you, and the price is not yours to control. The vendor raises the price, you pay it. They push an upgrade you didn't ask for, you take it. They own your data and the exit, so leaving means rebuilding from scratch. Bespoke is bought once, fits exactly how you work, and is never billed again. Gartner found 60% of off-the-shelf software buyers regret the purchase within 18 months. We're not against off-the-shelf. We're against paying rising rent forever for a poor fit you can't leave.
